Oz Knows Music – October

October Music in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Just for you.

Hello hello from your favorite music promoter.

Fall is here and it is time to get outside (and inside) to enjoy some of the best music in and around Eureka Springs!

Chelsea’s Corner bar kicks of the month with their weekly drink and draw on Wednesday, featuring local Chris Harp from Dimetrip. Rolling into the weekend on Friday the 4th they will be hosting Michigander “big pop songs disguised with guitars.” Saturday Oct 5th the 999 Eyes Freakshow will be rolling into town and on to Chelsea’s main stage to show with an experience like no other. “Witness the amazing sideshow antics of the world’s only time trotting freak show. Be amazed with the most talented human oddities that time has ever seen. Hear the spellbinding music from the one and only dime museum time machine house band, THAT DAMNED BAND, whose members have studied each form of instrumental sound in every age of earth existence.”

Eureka Springs Music

The first Saturday of October you can catch Old Crow Medicine Show with Charlie Warsham headlining at the Eureka Springs Aud. Best known for their single “Wagon Wheel” and their two Grammys, Old Crow has been playing on stages worldwide for over 14 years!

The second weekend of October has proved to host one of the best festivals around. Our friends at Hillberry Music Festival will throw a party just 7 miles from downtown Eureka Springs and will fill three stages with national touring acts including but not limited to Railroad Earth (2-3 hour sets!), Yonder Mountain String Band, Billy Strings, Leftover Salmon, Del McCoury Band, Galactic and so much more!

Also October 12th Opal Fly and Kapow make their annual return to Chelsea’s Corner Bar! This local favorite fills the bar with some of the best dancers in Eureka Springs.

October 18th features One Ounce Jig- New Orleans style Jazz with a big horn feel and October 19th– Red Oak Ruse that is made up of Four tree-like gentlemen passionately melding all kinds of Americana music with the niche and traditional genre of Ozark Music to create the first of it’s kind – Ozarkana. This would be a great time to catch a preview of what is to come at OzMoMu 20.

The historical Auditorium will also be hosting a night with Don Mclean an American singer-songwriter, best known for his 1971 hit song “American Pie”, an 8.5-minute folk rock “cultural touchstone” about the loss of innocence of the early rock and roll generation.

As October comes to a close Eureka Springs will end with a bang celebrating Halloween in a big way! Starting the last weekend you can catch a 100s of Zombies after parting with DJ D Sewell at Upstairs Grotto on Spring Street. High energy 6 piece funk/rock band called Groovement will be bringing it at Chelsea’s. On Hween proper catch the return of Fossil of the Ancient Robots at Chelsea’s and bring your costume to participate in the best costume contest in town!

All month long you can find Food with Entertainment too.

Check out the Balcony Bar and Restaurant. They fill their outdoor space (my favorite in town) with local live music Thurs- Sun during lunch 12-3 and Dinner 6-9. The Gravel Bar also has a wonderful patio to enjoy the fall temps and listen to live music Fri and Sat.

Be sure to swing by Brews that host regional and traveling artist of all forms all month long. New to the calendar is Manouche Jam aka: gypsy swing every Monday night. This jam features some of our local and regional favorites such as the famous spoon player, Patti Steel.
