Lookout Cottage

Summer is officially under way. Have you managed to plan a get-away? What about a cottage nestled in the Ozarks that comes with the services of a resort but the privacy of cabin? One with a rich history and quirky touches.

The Lookout Cottage is one of a few dwellings that make up what is now called the Lookout Estate. Dating back to 1902, this cottage first served as a caretaker’s home, but since then has served as a place of renewal for the various owners over the years. Mrs. Marge Lyon, a writer for the Chicago Tribune, who moved to the estate in the 40’s and lived there for 20 years referred to it as “Sunrise Mountain Farm”. During the Lyon’s stay, spa treatments were all the rage and many visited the local Basin Spring Bath House where nurse Alice Coleman developed long lasting relationships with many of the residents, including Mrs. Lyon and actress Irene Castle.

The Lookout Cottage located on 4.2 acres of woodland on the Lookout Cottage Estate is a quaint, historic accommodation featuring a fireplace, kitchenette, private deck, flat screen tv, king bed and Jacuzzi tub for two. The estate is located 20 yards from the Crescent hotel and comes with access to all the hotel’s amenities including free shuttle service down and back from the downtown area,  swimming pool, hot tub, daily resort activities and more. You also receive a discount on primary spa services in the New Moon Spa located within the Crescent hotel.

This cottage provides a relaxing vacation without the hassle of preparing for a trip to a secluded cabin in the woods. Great dining options are only a short shuttle ride way and daily housekeeping visits will ensure things stay tidy. Enjoy many of the nature trails around Eureka Springs and take the opportunity to stop by a few of the natural springs around town. Eureka is a small town just perfect for a leisurely stroll. Historic and quirky homes and stores alike will send you back in time wishing for the good ol’ days.
